Spiritual companionship, also known as spiritual direction, is the practice of being with people as they attempt to deepen their personal spirituality and/or relationship with a divine presence. During spiritual companionship, a person shares stories of his or her encounters of the divine/nature/community, or how he or she is cultivating a life attuned to spiritual encounters. The companion listens and asks questions to assist in the process of reflection and growth. Spiritual companionship assists in the development of a deeper awareness with the various aspects of being human that ultimately lead towards a more meaningful and purposeful life. While some of the concepts of companionship may overlap with that of psychotherapy, it is not counseling and should mental health issues need be be addressed, an appropriate referral will be made.
Persons of all backgrounds are welcome regardless of religion, gender, race, ethnicity, etc.
My approach is open to both theists and non-thesists, single faiths, mixed-beliefs, or those with inter-spiritual practices.
